The Steel Valley Way Group

Article posted: Saturday 5 March, 2011

The group is planning to create a safe, flat and traffic free route along the valley bottom between Stocksbridge and Deepcar.

It is threatened by the proposed closure of Ford Lane due to the retail development in Stocksbridge and the issue is now the subject of a Public Enquiry.

The Steel Valley Way group is asking for your support.

Stocksbridge Design Statement

Article posted: Thursday 12 March, 2009

If you are interested in the future of Stocksbridge you need to get involved in the Stocksbridge Design Statement. It is your chance to influence the economic, social and environmental development of the town.

A Design Statement is a document aimed at influencing the future of the area, particularly its physical regeneration and development.

The Stocksbridge design statement is still evolving and is addressing some fundamental questions:

What is distinctive about our town?
What do we want to see in the future?
What do we not want to see?
What do we want to preserve from the past?

When completed it will contain detailed information and suggestions which can be adopted by the Local Planning Authority as a ‘Supplementary Planning Document’. As such, it can effectively influence the decisions made by Planners and Developers so that they are in line with what the people who live here really want.

We need a wide cross section of people in the area to be involved in all aspects of this project.
